I’ve been thinking a lot about the concept of cycles.
My Mesoamerican indigenous ancestors (Mexica/Aztecs, Mayan, Toltecs, and Olmecs) all paid special attention to and believed in the cyclical nature of time. They believed being aligned with cosmic and natural cycles made a real difference — practically and spiritually.
They built entire structures to prove it. We’re talking about building cities, pyramids, and plazas that to this very day align with the moon and stars — literally.
These were advanced mathematicians and technologists who paid attention to nature but in a spiritual way.
They came up with the concept of “zero” all on their own and used it plenty more than any other culture. Plus, have you seen any of their structures? They are borderline perfect and many of them still stand today.
Perhaps it’s in my blood, maybe it’s my engineering brain or my spiritual nature, but it goes without saying, I too also believe in the cyclical nature of everything.
We see it all throughout mother nature. The seasons, plants, and animals all point to natural cycles in life.
We’re no exception. Our very cells have a cycle in which they copy their DNA and divide into new cells. Women get their periods monthly. We all have a natural circadian rhythm. We all are born, we live, and then die.
Everything in life has a natural start, middle, and end.
It applies to your relationships, projects, and situations. Like my Mesoamerican ancestors tried to tell us — align with the cycle and it will make a real difference for you. But to do that, you have to have some sense of awareness. And to have awareness, you have to see things for what they are. Spiritual principles nor mother nature makes exceptions for anyone… since we’re in fact a part of it.
Play your role in the cycles you’re a part of and everything will work out.
You’re not a victim, you’re a participant. Each season and cycle in life wants you to help start, develop, or finish it. Contributing to a cycle is where we learn more about ourselves. It reveals hidden aspects within our nature and teaches us more about the potential we have.
So I challenge you to reflect on everything you got going on. See the cycle and patterns. Become a part of them. And like my ancestors believed, it will make a difference for you — practically and spiritually.
