La Novena
Yesterday, I went to a memorial service at a roman catholic church. A cousin in law died in Mexico but most of his family lived here in the U.S. and could not make the funeral. After mass, the family gathered and said rosary prayers.
As they mourn, the family plans to gather for nine days to say prayers to gain special intercessory graces (this tradition is called “Novena”).
What incredible faith. Although I have different beliefs than that of my catholic brothers and sisters, I applaud them for their faith and only hope that I could match it.
Wouldn’t you be comforted to know that your family would gather and pray for nine consecutive days in a time of need?
I definitely I would.
